I've been meaning to get Blue Planet for ages but I've heard mixed reviews and I think I'll just hijack their back story in a future HERO game. Yeah, I'm cheap.

Where are those people who give "mixed reviews" for Blue Planet so that I can hunt them down and do unspeakable things to them?

But seriously, Blue Planet has a fantastic backstory and setting and at the price definitely worth it for plundering alone. If nothing else, you have a very detailed alien ecology created by expert marinologists, and the whole planet could be easily dumped into most SF setting as a "frontier world"...

Dang, wish they had more Dragonstar books for me to stock up on and give to my friends as presents.

How is Nocturnum? That looks very tempting.

SOLD!

EDIT: Which books are essential for playing Blue Planet (or which has the best source material)? I'm tempted to buy them all because they are so cheap, but I don't want to go overboard, especially since it might be a hard sell for my gaming group.

Blue Planet is fantastic. I'm just waiting on some of the Midnight books to go on sale so I can finish out my collection. I stopped buying right before they announced 2nd ed.

Essential are first and foremost the Player's and Moderator's Guide - those two already hold a vast amount of information. Next I'd buy "Natural Selection" (for more on the alien ecology) and "First Colony" (for the biggest city on the planet). Fluid Mechanics and Frontier Justice aren't bad, but (to me) not of the highest priority.

But what the hell - buy them all as long as they are available. "Ancient Echoes", the sourcebook on the cetaceans (dolphins and orcas) already seems to be sold out...
