WARHAMMER FANTASY 2008 Scenario Contest
(announcement by FFG's Jay Little}

I'm pleased to announce the first Fantasy Flight Games Scenario Writing Contest for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. WFRP has had a strong tradition of supporting great fan-created content, and it's a tradition Fantasy Flight Games is eager to continue.

The scenario writing contest is an opportunity for you to show us — and the WFRP community — all the great ideas you have from your home campaign, that awesome adventure you've been planning for years, or a novel aspect of the Old World we haven't seen before.

The winner of the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay scenario contest will receive a signed copy of the upcoming Career Compendium sourcebook, have their winning scenario posted on the FFG web site for download by fans, and will earn the respect and admiration of the WFRP community (well, we can't guarantee that last part).

Contest Rules and Info

* All entries must be received by December 1st, 2008.
* Entries should be submitted in PDF, Pages Document, Word Document, or rich text formats only.
* Entries should be no longer than 10,000 words in length (which equates roughly to a 16-page adventure).
* Entries must be submitted to wfrpcontest@fantasyflightgames.com and must include the following information on the cover sheet of the submission:
o Your full legal name
o Your e-mail address
o How you would like your name to be displayed (e.g., J. Smith, James Smith, or James T. Smith)
o The title of the scenario
o The following disclaimer must appear verbatim:
"I certify that I am the author of the attached material and that attached material is original, unpublished work. Fantasy Flight Games and its licensees may reproduce, distribute, publish, display, edit, modify, create derivative works, and otherwise use the material for any purpose in any form and on any media. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless Fantasy Flight Games against all claims, suits, costs, damages, and expenses that may be incurred in connection with the material."
* Entries will be reviewed by the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay development team, and the top three entries will be submitted to a limited pool of our playtesters for evaluation and judging.
* Entries will be judged based on creativity, setting treatment, clarity and professionalism.
* Winners will be announced by January 30th, 2009.

Important Guidelines

* Limit one entry per person.
* All submitted entries become property of Fantasy Flight Games, and may be posted on the FFG web site.
* FFG employees cannot participate in this contest.

I've seen a lot fo scenarios of 32 pages that could just as well be 16 pages...heh :)

The WFRP format for scenarios is very freeform. I wonder if they will adopt the read-aloud ->GM's text format?

From FFG:

Important Note: The official rules have been amended to include the following provision:

Entrants shall not submit or expose their scenarios or any part thereof for any purpose beyond private use once submitted.

Hopefully this clarifies that submitted materials can still be provided and distributed to fans, so long as it is for private use.

I've added this provision to the rules at the top of this thread, and the online rules found in my Designer Diary will reflect this, as well.

This provision allows for distribution for private use, such as posting to a personal or fan-driven website to share with fans. It does not allow for distribution for business or profit purposes - Games Workshop still owns the rights to the Intellectual Property contained within, after all.

This provides a much greater degree of flexibility and leniency."

This contest is probably good for fledgling RPG writers. The past years' scenario entries were impressive.
