Been here a while...
In an interesting turn of events, possibly moving to the OT arena, here's what happened this week.
I go to B&N on Tuesday, I think. I ask the nice lady at the information desk to check on the book for me. It's not in the computer, so she also checks up front (where they keep the special orders) and in the back (shipping and receiving). After still not finding the book, she offers to place the order again, with an estimated arrival time of another 1.5 to 3 weeks. I thank her for her time, but tell her that won't be necessary since I'm fairly sure I can order it directly from the publisher faster.
Fast forward to today, Thursday. I have a voice mail on my work phone. I hate voice mail. I listen to the voice mail with dread in my heart. It's Barnes & Noble. The order I've just cancelled arrived Wednesday night and they'll hold it for me for two weeks.
Sometimes I wonder why I even get out of bed.
