I got the Seafarer's Handbook (SH) on Thursday. My local gaming store was glad to see it come in, as that meant they could finally be done with me
Granted, my needs are somewhat eclectic, as I run a campaign set primarily underwater. Of the d20 supplements dealing with the sea, I am most pleased with SH. While the monster section was somewhat sparse, and the overall tone seemed to lack an enticing "flavor", the scope covered by the book was impressive.
As I continue forward with "Aquan Adventures", a sourcebook for underwater campaigns set on Oerth, the World of Greyhawk, I do so with the security that Seafarer's Handbook, Seas of Blood, and the like have warmed the gaming audience to marine adventures.
It was also a serendipitous occurrence that Discovery's "Blue Planet" came out, this week.
