I've read pretty much every issue before Second Edition came out and pretty much every issue since Third came out. I was too annoyed about Second to give TSR any money during that time period.
Look back on Dragon. It used to be the magazine of the gaming culture. Book reviews, fiction, cartoons, occasional features on events and, yes, supplemental content. For a great many games.
Now it's closer to being a softcover supplement with random content and advertising. The comics and the fiction are, to my mind, still important.
Dragon isn't just a monthly D&D supplement. It's the magazine of our hobby. Good grief, even Car and Driver has had fiction...and it's a lot less relevant there.
