Fiddly Bits: Feet of Movement

THis reminds me of my opinion of having spell durations expressed in minutes or hours or whatever. I don't like it.

I have less problem with miniature/grid focused combat, but _if_ you have give me feet or squares, then I'll probably end up with some grid-based game. I have the tools to do that almost always available when I am playing, so it's okay. But I would really love to see the core of D&D moving further away from that as well, and allow me to use abstractions here as well.

And seriously, when they express all distances and speeds in increments of 5 ft, they really are better off using squares, because I always end up getting confused whether someone is talking about numbers of battl egrid squares or numbers of feet.

Can you express what you'd like to see for a movement TotM module, especially how you would handle charge, bull rush/push, flanking, are of effect spells and "reach" weapons?

I'm turning it over in my head at the moment, but I'd certainly like to get something I could use by Monday! :)

I'd love to just have some categories of wealth, and handwaive what a character can afford. This would make "dragon scale" clearly the equipment of a very wealthy adventurer, or someone of an appropriate background.

I am on board with giving options for changing both of those, and would probably use them quite often in my games.

Here's a completely untested, basically stream of consciousness idea of how to set up a theatre of the mind system that still uses D&D's stats and core system.

That is an awesome starting point! Gears be turnin'....
