I'm jealous.

Now that I think about it, it would be cool to suggest a list for the next poster as well.

Fair enough. The next list is: 158, 7, 86, 131, 49.

That'll be Apparition, Firedrake, Kamadan, Snyad, Witherstench.

A bit of a challenge, but I'm sure it can be done.

By the way, if anyone out there is wondering what any of these monsters are, feel free to ask.

The PCs encounter a cave system with two entrances and a myraid of long but narrow/low tunnels between them. In one entrance, a firedrake has made its lair; the other is the lair of a kamadan. Snyads dwell in the joining tunnels, picking up a living from the refuse of both monsters. The kamadan also has a middens outside its lair, where a witherstench has taken to eating carrion. A human adventurer wormed his way into the snyad tunnels and became stuck long ago; she is now an apparition tied to the location of her body. The snyads avoid this area.

Sorry, I don't have the FF handy to pick the next five.

Jagged, wooded peaks that are often wreathed in mist, but which suddenly open up to wonderful vistas of light and shade. In the side of a valley of rice and maize fields is the Lotus Temple Cave, a lone bell tolling the hours of prayer to the monks within and to a few peasant visitors…

Golden Flower, the villagers named her, though she never told the puny mortals her real Shen Lung dragon name. She lairs in the cool still pools of the sunlit Lotus Temple Cave, tended by silent Githzeri monks. She gloats over the bones of a dead titan whose ribcage is her inner sanctum. It amuses her to emerge sometimes in awesome dragon fury from within the eerie skeleton as if she fought and slew the creature herself. But it was long turned to ancient stone before she first came to the grotto. Her flair for the dramatic and her love of a good show may be her greatest weaknesses.

On Golden Flower’s claw is a ring which she can use up to 20 times to summon a steam mephit to serve her for one whole day. If she knows that there is company expected, villagers perhaps, praying to her for better crops or for other mortal concerns, she’ll use the mephit to put on a little performance of her supposed god-like powers. In return, she sometimes demands a human sacrifice for the mephit’s amusement. If the crops are plentiful, she doesn’t care. It has nothing to do with her, after all. She is as likely to command the monks to lavish gifts of rice and sweet treats and send the pilgrims on their way burdened with bags of silver.

The abbot of the monastery is a Githzeri cleric whose staff is twisted into an effigy of the bones of the titan. The bones can detach and transform into a necrophidius on command. His force of monks have been slowly growing, without causing concern to the Shen Lung, whose vanity has blinded her to the possibility of any treachery. What the painfully slow reinforcing of the monastery is for is yet unknown.

Lurking in the bamboo groves near the temple is a Hellcat, attracted to the smell of power from the dragon. It is undecided if the Shen Lung is worthy of its service, her chaotic behaviour meets with the Hellcat’s disapproval most of the time. But curiosity keeps it spying on the Githzeri and picking off an occasional farmer amuses the monster as it considers its options for greater evil. It sometimes shares the dragons lair, hidden on a dark ledge from which it can view the proceedings.

Me too.

Dust off the old FF and stick five random monsters together in a plausible plot or encounter. You can randomly choose your own, use the five chosen by the previous poster, or even (gasp!) just pick five from the book that take your fancy. When you post your idea, stick five more together for the next contributor to tinker with. B-)
