I like the idea of one being "planar" themed, as long as it isn't overdone. I mean, do we really need that many planar monsters?

More rumors for the Fiend Folio

I have heard rumors that it will round out the devils and demons list that will be started in the Book of Vile Darkness. Perhaps even adding new demons and devils as well. Also it will be similar to the previous edition of Fiend Folio where you get the more/most outrageous or off the wall monsters. So yes it is another monster book, but it is out there to provide further flavor to your campaign, which I believe was the purpose of the 1st edition Fiend Folio. Again...just rumors.

Since you haven't told us anything, nor do you seem to be talking about the supposed Fiend Folio, I doubt he was asking you. He was probably asking whoever had the "Fiend Folio summary."
