Fiendish servant + familiar + animal companion?

I can't find any rules to specifically say otherwise, but is it permissable for a character to have a fiendish servant (as per the Blackguard ability), and a famailair, and even an animal companion?

Say for instance you have a Sorcerer 1/Ranger 6/ Blackguard 5...can he have all three companions?

How about if you throw other things into the mix, such as a homonculus, cohort, planar cohort etc.

In short, what are the practical limits on the number of familiar/companion/cohort/servant type beings a single character may have?

No reason you can't.

Mind you, given that their advancement is based on the relevent class' level, they'll all be creampuffs, but you can have your roaming glass menagerie, sure.

The only restriction I can think of is you can't have multiple instances of the same class-feature buddy. No taking a level of wizard and a level of sorcerer to get two familiars, for example.

Other than that, go nuts.

Practical limits is 2. Any more than that and your 'sidekicks' will be so woefully underpowered that they become a major liability.

But I can see getting 9 of the buggers pre-epic. A peregrine falcon animal companion from the peregrine runner PrC (Goliaths only), 4 animal companions from beastmaster PrC, a homonculous, a familiar, a paladin's mount (or fiendish servant), and the lowly cohort.

If you include followers that could be hundreds, and double that if you have the extra followers feat, and even more if you take the other leadership feats. Of course you could just buy armies of riding dogs if you just want to pile useless attacks on the enemy.
