[Fiery Dragon] Counter Collection and BattleBox 4e now available

I just realized that Fiery Dragon has an offer to ship the bundle Battlebox+counters to Western Europe at $115 via Paypal. I'm seriously tempted, with the current exchange rate EUR/USD.

Anyone took up that offer yet ? Did it go alright ?

I received my copies down in South America without a glitch.

BTW, which terrain dressing tiles would be more interesting to you all:

- Wilderness (trees, undergrowth, boulders, tents, bonfires, etc)

or

- Natural Underground (stalagmites, mushroom patches, etc)

?

That's a tough one. I think both would be interesting.
However, I think i'd probably lean just a tiny bit closer to wilderness.

Impressions of Counter Collection combo

I just received my 4E monster counters and battle box. Overall the product is good. The counters are not as thick as I had hoped (it was hard to tell exactly from the web photos) but are essentially two sheets of heavy paper sandwiching a chipboard middle. I haven't started punching out any of the counters yet, but I might be afraid of them peeling at some point. I'll update after I've started punching.

The art is very good, with each type/role of monster having slightly different art. The breakdown of monster type should provide all you will need for almost any encounter. I was afraid it might be too cartoony but it's restrained and effective. Like good comic art, it has enough detail to hold up on a large or huge sized counter, but not too dense for medium and small sizes.

A note on tiny sized creatures since it wasn't clear from the otherwise excellent summary earlier in the thread. They are printed four to a medium size counter in such a way they can be cut into four separate counters with "bloodied" border on the back. You'll need a sharp x-acto or other cutting tool and straight edge to do a neat job, they aren't die-cut. But there aren't very many either.

The battlebox counters are the same as the monster set, and have counter for every possible Class/Race/Sex combination from the PHB. The art on the extra dungeon detail tiles is very good as well. Better than I had anticipated. The acetate spell templates look like a handy thing to have around. The round effect tokens are functional, though I think there might be too many flying elevation counters. Some more bloodied and additional tiles for +2, +5 etc for various effects might have been nice. The pads of character sheets and spell lists are nicely laid out and should be useful. Also of note, when I opened the shipping box, there were 4 additional player combat sheets for a total of 5 including the one in the battle box. Nice.

Overall, for the price these are nice products. Go for the combo deal and you won't be able to field this many monsters or PCs for less. My only real nitpicks are the tile thickness and my own asthetic issues with small creatures on 1" tiles. I'm sure a whole new die for 5/8" or 3/4" counters is probably too much to ask. I should also note that I have decently sized collection of euro style board games so my expections of tile thickness and quality might be a bit skewed. But reasonable high quality printing is available though China as many recent board games can attest.

As for whether I'd like more dungeon dressings or something outdoors, I would like outdoor items only if the paragon and epic sets include wilderness dry erase maps. Otherwise, stick with more dungeon style. Or maybe some tavern/house/town type tiles?

Thanks for making the product available, I look forward to the next sets.

I received mine without any issues (I live in Norway). The service was excellent. As to the products themselves, the only thing that disapointed me was the number player combat sheets, as there was only 1 included.

Any news on whether or not the 4E Paragon Counter Collection will see print?

Paragon and Epic are off to the printer!

Yay for Gargantuan counters!

:D

Great news about the next sets! Having punched out about half of the counters, I can say the counter thickness won't be an issue and they seem plenty durable. Again thanks for the great product.

Excellent news :)

Btw, what do you think is the best way to store large and huge (not to speak of gargantuan) counters? I have the "normal"-sized counters in small boxes - i think they are called Plano-boxes in the USA - but the large-sized counters are too big. Any suggestions?

So far I'm storing mine in plastic bags, sorted by size (for the BBox dungeon dressings) or by creature type (for counters). I'm trying to find ziplock bags for this. The bags then go into the boxes.

Just wanted to say I got my Battlebox + Counter Collection in 7 days, without a hitch. This thing is awesome.

I'm still figuring out how I'm going to sort them. I'm doing Klaus method using ziplocs right now. I have a giant tacklebox that might work well too. I can imagine a smaller box that has compartments would work well for this too.

Thanks Fiery Dragon though - this thing is awesome!
