Fighter damage dealing potential...

I was glancing through the book and it occurred to me that an epic tier fighter has a huge potential for damage through equipment...

Combine a +6 vorpal falchion with the gauntlets of destruction...

You deal a base 2d4 damage, rerolling ones. That means theres a one in three chance to deal another 1d4 damage *for each die* (since vorpal works for any damage dice, not weapon damage). I don't think extra damage die is from this is useable with powers, even though it comes from the weapon, but if it is...

When you crit (one in ten chance), thats not only the extra 6d12, but also 6d4 damage, all of which rerolls on a one.

Overall, the potential for damage is massive out of this. It's no Blade Cascade, but it's not something that will get erratta (I think).

Not a bad little combo, but not really broken either.

We are rerolling 1s so on average your d4s will get an extra dice one time in 3. So we get an average of 2 extra dice from the 6d4, which then provide an average of 2/3 of an extra dice.

Your average d4 roll is a 2.5 so on average your getting about 6.5 extra damage on a crit from the rerolling effect of vorpal and destruction combined.

Destruction combined with d4s definitely gets the most out of the vorpal effect, but it's still not a huge deal.

But not optimized. The ranger won't get it because he can't use his powers with it. He can use two other vorpal weapons, with less effect.

The fighter will get the most out of this, as will the paladin.

Some math done on the average damage from the weapons.

Average Damage on a Falchion is 5 per [W].
Average Damage with a Vorpal Falchion and Gauntlets of Destruction is 9 per [W].
Average Damage with a Bastard Sword is 5.5 per [W].
Average Damage with a Vorpal Bastard Sword and Gauntlets of Destruction is 6.75 per [W].
Average Damage with a Longsword is 4.5 per [W].
Average Damage with a Vorpal Longword and Gauntlets of Destruction is 5.83 per [W].

Enjoy. I believe the math is right. So a 7[W] weapon skill gets an extra 28 damage out of a Vorpal Falchion with the Gauntlets on average, while a Vorpal Bastard Sword with the Gauntlets only get an average of 8.75.
