Ask my Dwarf Pit Fighter (with Marked Scourge, Devoted Challenge, and Hero of the Faith) that. No really, ask him.

(He's just cranky waiting for Wary Fighter. Better initiative, and better Insight and Perception too? Yay!)

Having said that, it is very nice to have options for the DEX fighters too.

I really enjoyed this article; mostly for the tactical advice - as I always DM.

I've noticed they don't do many OA's and the fighter rarely even uses his marking - and consequentially doesn't use CS and I doubt he even knows about the Wis bonus to OA's; becuase I didn't.

This all led me to think about how I play monsters during encounters. I'm not using them effectively and I need to think more about my encounter design.

Out of curiosity, what stance is that? I don't recall seeing something like that, and it'd be great for a character I'm building.

Polearm Master also gives that stance.

By the way, WotC errata'd and re-compiled Dragon 379 with the errata to the "Fighters Essentials" article. The biggest offender, warding steel was made into an encounter power and the bonus to AC and Fortitude is now a power bonus.

Good. I had a friend who looked at it and said "I think my Living Forgotten Realms character is multiclassing into Fighter just to take this power" and I said "You know, it's almost definitely going to be errata'd?" He said "Yep, but WOTC will take months to issue it, and until then I'll be unstoppable."

Glad to see WOTC proved him wrong.

What was he thinking, they're generally pretty quick about fixing stuff from the magazines!
