Fighter Marking

I know this has probably been asked but what's the story with fighter marking? If I attack multiple targets in a round such as with spinning sweep are they all marked? If so what is the point of fighter powers that say all the targets are marked? Wouldn't that happen anyway?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, they are all marked.

As for any such powers I'm not aware of any in particular that just say "marked". However, there could be special cases, such as powers that mark targets without attacking them. And there are also powers that have more persistent marks (like (save ends) or (until the end of the encounter), as normally a fighter's mark expires at the end of their next turn.

As a fighter if you make an attack roll against a target then you've marked it.

I'd need to know what the powers that say that all targets are marked to see why they say that.
It may be that the targets don't all have attack rolls against them for the power to have an effect.

It's also worth noting that you don't HAVE to mark something if you attack it - sometimes it is good not to (overwriting another character's mark, if you have too much heat on you etc).

I can't remember any fighter powers that state that targets get marked, although there are plenty from other classes.

There's one in Martial Power, level 1, Reliable, marks until end of encounter. But that's the exception to the rule, explicitly saying more than 'marks until end of turn.'

But then, another reason Fighter powers might have 'mark until end of turn' explicitly added in is for characters who multiclass into Fighter, and don't have Combat Challenge.
