Well, if all else fails, you can try amazon.com (I should have thought of that the first time I posted something). It's not as cheap as a library, but at least you don't have to send it back after a few weeks.

As far as future animals, look at some of the creatures from The Future is Wild. It was a TV show that ran last year in the US, that detailed what life would be like 50, 100, and 200 million years from now if humans were forced to leave the planet. 100 million years from now isn't all that interesting, but 50 million years is very nice, and 200 million years shows the beginnings of a reiteration of the evolutionary past, with the squibbons showing to be intelligent life in their battle against the megasquids.

Seen it. Quite cool.

I have thought up some plants... A huge spongy mess that soaks up water and photosynthesisises at the same time, and a cephelapod that poses as seaweed to eat what ever swims in the tentacles.

How about some new giant vermin? Everybody's fought with big spiders and scorpions the size of horses. Put something more exotic in your world. Like...

Giant Tardigrades. These hippo-sized creatures fulfill a similar role in their environment, that of agressive semi-aquatic herbivore. They live in areas that are only wet for part of the year, and so fall into suspended animation when their lakes dry out, resembling large boulders until the rains come.

or

Carnivorous Dust Mites. Call them acarii or something. They're squat arachnids the size of a dog that gang up on larger prey and strip it, still living, of its skin. They then leave the flesh for other predators.

Demiurge out.

Here's a link to Discovery Channel's/Animal Planet's "The Future Is Wild" page, though it isn't the original page; that one was only up temporarily around the time the show aired. This page still has some pictures and descriptions, though. It lacks some of the creatures though, like squibbons and a few others.

Other ideas could be taken from Magic: The Gathering, like kolos (hulking, shaggy goat-beasts), and jovalls (large, six-legged, white-furred tigers with black stripes), or whatnot...

If you want to make some tough beasties, try making giant lizards that have advanced regenerative capabilities, almost like trolls (though probably not quite as good), or man-sized predatory chameleon-beasts with greater camouflage ability and tongues that lash out like bludgeons. Or, for fun, oversized, ravenous chinchillas and minks. :D Yeah, I don't have anything terribly useful to contribute at the moment.....
