Who Wins?

Squall (VIII) v. Cloud (VII)

Zidane (IX) v. Locke (III or VI)

Yuna (X) v. Rinoa (VIII)

Lulu (X) v. Rydia (II or IV)

Seifer (VIII) v. Cid (VII)

Kain (II or IV) v. Freya (IX)

Zell (VIII) v. Wakka (X)

Sephiroth (VII) v. Golbez (II or VI)

My take:

Here's my opinion...

1. Cloud. Bigger sword, better magic, and omnislash :)

2. Locke. Zidane doesn't get the smack down until he gets hit hard... Locke gets Ultima every round

3. ...Yuna I think. She's just far cuter.

4. WHOO HOO! Rydia rocks Lulu all over the place. Heck... Rydia could probably take out Lulu and Yuna at the same time!

5. Tough one... probably have to go with Seifer on this one... Odin in one swipe? Eeek!

6. Kain, definitely. Freya was too tortured for my liking... made her sloppy. Plus that hat obscured her vision I'm pretty sure.

7. I honestly don't care... really didn't like either character too much.

8. Wow... tough one. In a pinch, I'd have to say Sephiroth. He's just too nutso powerful (and he keeps coming back after you kick his butt)

Hmm

Anybody from FF2 wins by default because it was a superior game.

On that same note, I notice that you didn't put Cecil (Black Knight version) up against anybody because, obviously, he is the baddest man on the planet.

Kain, also, would destroy anyone. Anyone.

So would Rydia. And Edge. And FuSoYa. And Golbez.

I'd also like to point out that Golbez was never really killed. Sure he was beaten, but never by the party, and he was only beaten because his abilities as a Black Knight (or "incarnate of Darkness" as it were) wouldn't let him harm Zemus at all. Otherwise, Cecil (Paladin version) and his friends might as well not have been there. At all.

Just my two cents.

Really? I didn't like 2/4. My faves are (in order) 6/10 (can't decide), 9, 8/1 (tough call), 4. It's too bad X was so Amtrak-like. Being railroaded = bad. :(

Oh, yeah. Yuna smacks Rinoa around, and Lulu absolutely destroys Rydia.

Lulu destroys Rydia? Let me point out a few things here about the overabundance of flaws in that logic.

1) Lulu is a black mage, purely. She casts hurt-you-lots spells.
2) Rydia does everything. Pre-Leviathan incident she could summon, cast black magic, and cast white magic. Post-Leviathan she could still use black magic, and MUCH better, and summon things that would make Lulu wet the bed.
3) Lulu's guardian is Wakka. Rydia's guardian is Edge. Wakka is a blitzball player. Edge is a NINJA. Enough said.

As far as not liking FF2/4, that's unfortunate seeing as it had actual characters, whereas others (FF8 being the prime example here) took characters that were cool in the beginning and turned them into boring cardboard cut-outs and threw them into an unlikely love story where you didn't really care if they got together or not. Honestly, I thought Squall started the game as a hardcore soldier type and ended it as this incredibly pansified softy in love with a useless and boring chick that did nothing but use and manipulate him.

Your other choices I agree with, except I would put FF2/4 in front of everything there. Come on, how badass does your end party have to be? You have the baddest Dragoon ever (Kain), a Black Knight turned Paladin (Cecil), the White Mage/Archer with a little spell called White (Rosa), the Caller that can cast Nuke, Meteo, AND Bahamut (Rydia), and a freaking Ninja. Would you like fries with that ass-whooping?

B, yer a total nutcase.

4 is FAR superior to 8 in all things, and 7 is on par with 4, if not totally superior (still can't believe you refuse to play it. Dork).

As for Lulu... um, no. Rydia would kick Lulu's butt all the way across 3 continents, then feed her mutilated body to bahamut.

Lulu does win in the looks department though... no argument there.

The only way I can see Lulu beating rydia is if you manage to horribly manipulate the sphere grid to the point where they're both at equal power levels. Then Lulu might have a chance.
