The recipient of this spell can find the shortest, most direct physical route to a specified destination, be it the way into or out of a locale. The locale can be outdoors, underground, or even inside a maze spell. Find the path works with respect to locations, not objects or creatures at a locale.

If you are trying to find a specific person, the spell Find the Path doesn't work, because it is keyed to objects. But could you use it to find the person's home, or prison, or other some such locale?

If you know the person of which you want to find the home, I'd say the spell works. If you want to find "the way into the richest man's treasure vault", I'd say the spell fails.
