finesse a 2-bladed sword?

absurdum

Now i know it is not in the "rules" but i was wondering would it be acceptable to allow a 2-bladed sword to be finessed, that is after the are proficiant in it and have ambidex and 2 weapon fighting? The argument the player uses is how darth maul fights with one more dextrise then with brute force.

Without referencing the Star Wars rules....as I don't actually own them, if that is the only argument that you've been presented with, you could always point out that aside from the handle, lightsabres don't really have any weight.

um, have you ever tried to swing 30 lbs of metal? there's no finesse involved in that. as written in the phb, there is no way that the two blade sword could even be considered for finesse. with a more slender blade (like a fencing saber blade, not the cavalry saber) that gives you damage and crit stats like a scimitar/rapier not a longsword i could see it as a viable house rule.

So now they're using

Ambidexterity
Two Weapon Fighting
Exotic Weapon Proficency
Weapon Finese?

I'd say fine, go for it. I can imagine it in my mind and it doesn't seem too far off. I'd make it d6 though, that's the most damage weapon you can wield with finese. It's using up 4 feats!

By the rules, then no.

Greetings,

If you go strictly by the rules in the PHB, you will not be able to use weapon finesse on a two bladed sword.

However, if your DM allows you to use the feats in the Netbook of Feats there is a feat called Accurate Attack that will allow you to finesse (at least in theory) a two-bladed sword.

Hmm. Actually...since when using a two-bladed sword as a double weapon, the off-hand counts as a Light weapon...

...you could Finesse the off-hand attacks but not the regular one.

Bizarre.
