Finished a 300 page Novel in 9 Hours

I can chew through novels at up to 100 pages/hour, when I'm reading them. I polished off Eddings' latest release on my last flight from DC to Atlanta. My record is the entire Hobbit-Lord of the Rings series in a weekend.

Though I have to admit, books are less satisfying when you read them that quickly

On my 14th (15th?) birthday, I read the Hobbit thru RotK (skipped most of the Appendix) because we had a short day thanks to some kind of state testing and I had nothing better to do as my family was out of town (we where having the party the next day). I only started to read the Hobbit to kill time between the tests, I did not plan to read them all, it just kinda happened. Thankfully I had read them a few times before or it would not have been as enjoyable. Note: I read pretty fast, so 500 page novels after school plus doing stuff with my friends was not uncomon.

300, that's all? That's only 1 page every two minutes or so. :p

How big is the type face? :D
Consistently? I've noticed some authors have a much quicker pace than authors. If it's really thick, a page can take forever. A page of Graham Greene, though, is about 30 seconds.

I could knock out one of those books in 4 or 6 hours if I went at a leisurely pace.

If reading fiction, I'm generally a compuslive reader and don't put a book down until I finish it. This weekend I read White Wolf and Blades of Night and Day by David Gemmel, a little under 1K in pages. Generally about a page a minute-90 seconds.

Congrats on the read thorugh. It's great to just read a book and relaxe with it.

Being able to read fast is just about the only positive "quirk" or advantage I seem to have. I usually read about 100 pages an hour (though if I want, I can read as fast as I can turn the page, though it gives me a headache after a while)

Not sure if it makes up for having bad knees or athsma, but it can be useful.
