Finishing Off the Mimics

I vote for dropping the fire/elec immunities, and agree with damage reduction 10/magic and bludgeoning and fast healing 15.

That's OK by me.

Updated.

So that just leaves Challenge Rating and Advancement.

Should they have the same CR11 as a regular juggernaut or be one lower?

They don't have any ranged attacks but they're even more dangerous in melee. They also don't have construct traits and a a couple of energy immunities.

Overall, I think they're weaker than a Construct Juggernaut, so should be a CR lower. Then again, I suspect the Juggernaut may be a little under-CRd.

Shade, didn't you say you've used the Jugg a lot? Do you think its CR is well judged?

I've used juggernauts several times, but they were always advanced by HD. Still, they seemed on-par for the CR following the usual advancement rules, so I have no problem with their current CR. And I agree that the mimic version should be 1 less than the construct version.

Challenge Rating 10 it is then!

Updated.

The Juggernaut's Alignment, Organization, Treasure and Advancement look OK.

Better change the Environment I guess, since it's a living thing now.

Standard mimics are underground.

These fellows might hunt above ground like House Hunters, but they would probably prefer flat terrain that's easy to roll over.

Environment: Any land or underground?

That sounds pretty good. I'll let you fill in the tactics, description, and flavor, since these are your babies.

Well the description and tactics should be pretty easy, how about:

A house-sized block of stone thunders forward on solid granite rollers, a half dozen boneless limbs writhing from its sides.

Combat

Mimic juggernauts pretend to be a nondescript piece of scenery, such as a stone hut or huge boulder, then wait for victims to wander nearby. They then rise up on their rollers and tries to trample them. If its opponents prove too maneuverable to easily trample, the juggernaut tries to grab them with its pseudopods and then stick them to its crushing rollers using its natural adhesive.

The description is a bit more problematic. Are we keeping these a bizarre mimic-golem hybrid like the original monster, or are they just regular living creatures than breathe, eat and breed?

I'd prefer the latter. Golem-hybrids really make little sense, even for nonsensical D&D monsters. ;)

I quite like the idea of them being unnatural creations like half-golems, and it would fit the original description better "Some juggernauts are a unique crossbreed of stone golem and mimic. Once animated, these juggernauts can alter their shape as the mimics do."

Or we could just give both origins, and leave it to the DM to decide.
