Carmichael, CA – Faery’s Tale, the interactive storytelling game of faery folklore for ages 6 & up, soars into direct release from Firefly Games in August.

Faery’s Tale debuts in print at GenCon Indy, with Firefly Games releasing a series of teasers and previews, including fiction by Robin D. Laws and an introductory adventure by Patrick Sweeney and Matt Forbeck, in the weeks leading up to its release. A PDF-format version will be released in July.

“This is the game I founded Firefly Games to publish, so while I’m very proud of all our products, I’m thrilled to see Faery’s Tale finally reach print,” said Patrick Sweeney, co-author and company president. “Over the years, I’ve heard from so many people looking for a game to play with their children or non-gamer friends – I think Faery’s Tale fills a real need.”

Faery’s Tale provides swift, easy-to-learn rules for endless adventures in the wondrous world of the fey. This exciting game lets you take on the role of a pixie, brownie, sprite, or pooka in an enchanted fairy-tale forest. Foil plots by your wicked dark faery kin, rescue youngsters from giants, overthrow sorcerous tyrants, awaken princesses from magical slumbers, watch over faery godchildren or embark on other amazing adventures, happily ever after. Faery’s Tale uses an original dice-pool resolution system, and allows players to use their faery’s precious magical life force, known as Essence, to influence events or change the course of the story. Designed and playtested for ages 6 and up, Faery’s Tale provides plenty of depth for experienced gamers while also offering an ideal entry to the hobby for children or adults new to roleplaying.

We'll be in booth #1137, our own booth, sharing with Blood & Cardstock Games, at GenCon Indy. By the way, we have four demo games scheduled for the events, one each day, plus we're hoping to run some brief in-booth demos, though that part's still a little up in the air. We'll have an FAQ up on the site in a day or two with a lot more info on the game - until then, I'm happy to answer questions. Well, after then, too.

Thanks, Nicole. It has been a long trip, hasn't it? The first design journal, which will probably go up in the next couple of weeks, will talk about all the twists & turns this project took. But I think it has paid off in the end in making it a better game - I think it's the best design work I've ever done, plus the excellent contributions by Sandy, Christina, yourself, and all the other folks who reviewed various drafts over the years & offered feedback.
