Carmichael, CA – Firefly Games has released the first in a series of design journals by the creators of Faery’s Tale, its forthcoming game of faery folklore for all ages.

The first journal, by publisher and co-author Patrick Sweeney, talks about some of the games and industry authors who influences the rules of Faery’s Tale. Future journals will examine the long history of the project, the challenges of producing a game suitable for children as well as adults, and some of the game’s innovative rules.

Faery's Tale, the interactive storytelling game of adventure in the wondrous world of the fey, debuts in print in August from Firefly Games. Suitable for ages 6 & up, this exciting rules-light game lets you take on the role of a pixie, brownie, sprite, or pooka in an enchanted faery-tale forest. Faery's Tale is written by Patrick Sweeney, Sandy Antunes, and Christina Stiles, with fiction by Robin D. Laws, graphic design by Hal Mangold, and artwork by Patricia Ann Lewis-MacDougall and Jennifer Meyer. Faery's Tale will be available in both print and PDF formats. This 64-page book has a suggested retail price of $14.95 in print and $9.95 in PDF.

Thanks! I wasn't sure whether to start with the influences or the history of Faery's Tale, but I'd been thinking about this as a design journal topic for so long I thought I'd go ahead & lead off with it.
