Firefly Revival Confirmed

Look, I enjoyed Firefly back in the day, but Serenity was a perfectly fine finale. I dunno, I'd rather have had the Buffy show and it didn't make it.
I'm the opposite. Buffy had a good run; 7 seasons and a spin-off. "Firefly" didn't get a chance and the universe is ripe for more stories.

So ... I'll agree on the first part of that sentence, but disagree with the second.

Sure, Firefly ... back in 2002, deserved to have a longer run than what it got. I wish it had gotten more than 13 episodes and a movie.

But I don't find "The Verse" all that compelling. The Serenity and her crew intrigued me, but I don't have any desire to spend time in the setting without them. I have one of the follow up comics ... and I can't remember if I've ever read it. It's the same with Farscape ... if you're not on Moya with Crichton and gang ... I'm not looking for a series centered on some Peacekeepers, for example.

It may be worth it in streaming. If it were to go on TV I'd expect it to flop for the same reasons the movie didn't do so well. It was very well loved...by a small devoted following. Because it's run was so short (and during it's run, got shafted and so it's time spot was constantly moved or superseded) it didn't really gain much of the general audiences. Without that big of an audience, even though the small audience it had was fiercely loyal and loving it, the movie just didn't have the appeal to the general audiences other movies had.

It's been even longer since the movie and the show now. That devoted audience has shrunk. I think it may do okay on streaming (not netflix at least, on netflix it would be cancelled after the first block of shows dropped), but I'm not going to expect great numbers.
