Firefox - 3 Questions

How do I get FF 3 to remember where I was on a page?

For instance, here at ENWorld, from the main forum page, I scroll down several pages to this forum. Double click and look at the topic titles. See nothing that I want to look at then use the "go back one page" arrow, go back to the forum list, but now it is at the TOP of the list, not where I was. Is there a setting that will "fix" that?

That seems to vary by site. It works on lifehacker.com but doesn't seem to work in EN World. You do have to let the first page load fully, otherwise your location doesn't get cached in it and it just reloads it from scratch. I don't think there's a way to "force" it.

I noticed that EN-World (at least for me) always loads the pages new, even when I go back through history... needless to say, that this really hampers browsing speed with the current site slowdowns, unless you open everything in new tabs. ;)

Re: zooming, you (well, I - and I don't have any such add-on) can also just hold Ctrl and use the scroll wheel on the mouse to zoom in or out. I think you can also Ctrl-click on an area of a wehsite and scroll to zoom just that part. But I haven't tried that one for a while. . .

In firefox 2, standard zooming only worked on the text. In 3, it zooms everything proportionately, but you can check a box to make it only do the text.

I would say that adblock speeds up browsing. Theres many sites where they preload some of the adverts and a) some of them are big and b) sometimes the adsites are down and the page hangs until the ads are in. Ultimately its downloading less so generally its faster but I would think for slow connections it would be much faster.

Yeah, noscript does get in the way of many sites because so many use javascript or some other scripting but I dont think its just flash that can cause issues. For me personally I worry about viruses and other drive by nasties a lot less when it wont allow any scripts.

Well, I think both are essential. The adblock is really silent and non obtrusive but the noscript whilst potentially saving your butt does get in the way.
