Well the Punisher is sort of past the sell by date anyway, I mean just how old would he actually be now if he was a Vietnam vet? He's a highly skilled and vindictive 50 year old man who wears a big white skull on his black uniform. The Punisher was big in the 80's but he's one comic book hero they should of passed on.

As for this costume, well don't judge it yet, if they are still doing test shots and pre-production then this is probably only a prototype they are using to get a feel for what the design will look like on film. Lets hope it's not the final design but just a pre-producion one, if not they really need to rethink it.

Regarding the pic: my only qualm is his ... shirt. Whenever people see the Punisher, or a comic hero in general, you can almost always see his abs on his torso. Not seeing it, while realistic, makes it feel a bit 60s Batman to me.

Well, that's one reason the X-men uniforms, for instance, are different from the comic costumes. It's impossible to show someone's physique when they're wearing any kind of clothing at all. Spandex looks dorky and even more unrealistic on a real human body, even one that's toned within an inch of it's life. The only way to do it would be to get a very select group of really buff people, film them in the nude, then CGI the costume onto them. And it would probably still look like crap.

Trying to recreate the superhuman costume is just about the hardest thing to do, and make it look good. Probably the only one I've seen succeed was the Superman costume. The TV Flash one was a good attempt, but it was a nightmare to recreate every episode.

The Batman movie suits were meant to be intimidating armor. The X-Men suits don't attempt to show 'physique'. So, to me, he looks pretty good.

Dolph Lundgren had the look in the late 80's - early 90's Punisher adaptation, but the accent and the plot killed the movie. If this is the guy they picked to be the Punisher, it's going to take a LOTTA makeup and beefing up to sell him to me. I'll wait and see, as usual, and first impressions are not very important in cinema, necessarily.

Plus, I don't think Superman's costume was very good.

Christopher Reeves made it look good. If it was anyone else in
that costume it'd have sucked big time.

I was going to say something similar. Punisher was really the only comic I was totally into as a kid. I loved it and collected all of the special editions and crossovers. Got to know Frank real well. I personally liked Dolph as the Punisher - he had that mean buff grittiness. This guy, I dunno.. he looks like an SNL skit waiting to happen.
