First review, looking for feedback

Yesterday, I wrote my first gaming review and posted it here on EN World. I'm interested in getting feedback and criticism from folks who've written reviews here -- particularly the staff reviewers, and others who've written or read a lot of reviews.

Here's the review: http://www.enworld.org/reviews/index.php?sub=yes&where=active&reviewer=haiiro&product=TKBBA. I had fun writing it. :)

If you have the time to take a look and give me a bit of feedback, it would be most welcome. Thanks in advance!

I liked the reivew, I thought it was well written and gave me a sense of what the pdf was like. Made me want to buy it, in fact. (want to do a review of the Primer? :))

Well, this is just me, but I usually try to devote the first paragraph of a review I write in trying to describe just what the product is - not physically, but more, er, existentially.

You started off with a description of the physical/technical stuff first. Not until the 4th paragraph was a mention of what the book is about.

Again, this is just me, but I think the first part of a review should grab the reader, like the blurb on the back of a book. Try to hook them, and explain what the book is, and is meant to do.

The physical/technical stuff is nice to know, but can be a bit offputing if you start with it right away. Though sometimes it can work.

That post made it much easier for me to get a handle on what you were saying -- thank you for the clarification. :)

I like that Psion describes the physical qualities of whatever it is he's reviewing before getting down to business -- in a way, it's like picking up the book in the store: these are often the first things I'm looking at. That's what I was going for -- but after reading your comment, I went back and looked at Psion's reviews, and they always start with a paragraph that does just what you said. ;)
