Flesh to Stone and Illusion/Polymorph Magic?

Hypothetical: Character is using ring of change self. Character is normally a human, but appears to be an elf using the ring. Character meets a medusa and is turned to stone. What does the stone statue look like (original human or illusionary elf)?

How does this work with Illusion magics? (Alter/Change self, Seeming, Veil)

How does this work with transmutation magics? (Poly, Shapechange)

I would say the guy looks like a normal (not stoned) elf, at least until the change self wears off.

I would say he'd be a stoned elf. And then, if he was turned to flesh, after the duration of the spell, I'd say he would turn back to a human.

What about for spells with durations? Such as Seeming or Veil (or just casting change self, not having a ring)?

The most consistent idea I can think of is for the "statue" not to change. Seriously, how would it? Oh the illusion wore off, therefore the statue will now resemble a stone human instead of a stone elf?
