FLGS in London! Where?

green slime

First Post
Hello.

I've given up on my not-so-friendly local game shop and paying 12% tax on books.

A friend of mine is in the UK, working there. He kindly said he'd pick up the books for me (Which books? What books do you think, Berk?! 3.5E of course!)

So where do I send him?

Is it possible to pre-order (cutting it slim aren't I?) Do they have an email?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

From uk.games.roleplay FAQ

(a) Orc's Nest, at 6, Earlham Street, just off Cambridge Circus (on the
left, in the direction of Seven Dials, if you're heading south - see
their web site at <http://www.orcsnest.com>).

(b) Playin' Games, in Museum Street (one of the streets leading south
from opposite the front gates of the British Museum) - a shop which
sells all sorts of games, including RPGs and wargames (in the basement).

(c) Leisure Games, at 91 Ballards Lane, Finchley, is close to Finchley
Central station (on the Northern Line), and has an impressively
comprehensive stock. see: <http://www.leisuregames.com>

I was at the Orc's Nest a few years ago on my first/only trip to the UK. Overall nice guys, especially when dealing with dumb American tourists. (my words, not theirs) :)

I Haven't been to Orcs nest in at least 10 years (I think, it was about the time Vampire was first released)

Never been to playing games.

I have used Leisure games for mail order in the past and always found them helpful.

 Leisure Games has moved. It's no longer at 91 Ballards lane. It's now across the street at 100 Ballards Lane.

I'm a regaulr visitor to Orc's Nest and Playin' Games - which are a walking distance away from each other.

I like all three of the shops mentioned by Dismas but Orc's Nest is offering the best 3.5 deal. If you pre-order before 10/7, you can get the 3 core books for £50. Not bad, eh?

I've never found the Orcs Nest guys to be chatty or friendly, but they are the nearest to me at work, and I couldn't beat that £50 offer (so I've pre-ordered from them). Hey, I was pretty much bound to get them anyway sooner or later :)

I was there yesterday looking for Testament D20. They'd sold out but didn't know it. They searched high and low trying to find a copy for me. At least they tried...

I have to say that IME they're OK once you get talking to them.

I'd have to say that Leisure Games is probably the best on in London. I've been using them for years, and have never had any trouble - I've always found them helpful and reliable, especially as regards mail order.

Having said that, Orcs' Nest is easier to get to if you are in Central London - and I've never had any problems there, either - though I've only been in three times.

Orc's Nest

I've been shopping regularly at Orc's Nest for years (since they opened) and they're quite chatty once you get to know them! They've ordered stuff for me and generally been very helpful and friendly.

Cheers

Richard
