FLGS - Winchester Va. & Washington D.C.

Hello All, I have a bit of a quandry, and I know that some one here will be able to help.

Come this December I will finally finish my academic endeavors and will venture forth into the cruel cold world. As such, I will be leaving the comfortable surrounding of Morgantown WV, home of Nightfall and West Virginia University to either Winchester Va. or Washington D.C.. Now I need to find a new FLGS in which to spend all the money that I earn on the various games and comics that so I enjoy. If anyone has any suggestions about either locale, I would appreciate it much.

Game Parlor

Definitely. The Game Parlor is located in Chantilly (they also have one in Woodbridge), which is right on Route 50 (which I believe runs out towards Winchester). Good mid-point.

Not much IN DC proper. There are a couple here in Mont. County, MD (across the water from VA). Dream Wizards (in Rockville, one of the oldest gaming stores in the country) & Other Realms (in Gaithersburg, which just opened up a year or so ago). Both are a bit of a hike from Winchester, though.

Thanks for the help. I'm surprised at the lack of stores in D.C. (it is a large city for crying in a bucket) If anyone knows of any others I'd be glad to hear them, but looks like I'll have to frequent the mega-corp book stores unless someone knows a better alternative. I will check out the ones you mentioned, and hopefully they will be what I am looking for.

i used to shop at Hobby World in Laurel, MD in the early 80's.

and there was a Games WOrkshop in College Park in the mid 80's.

sorry haven't been in the area except to visit family for a few years.

If you're in DC, Dream Wizards is Metro Accessible. Take the Red Line to White Flint. DW is approx. 1/2 mile away (walkable in nice weather). There are directions on their website (http://www.dreamwizards.com)

Another good place to look for information regarding the local DC scene is on yahoo groups. Look for the dcrpg list.

I am kind of surprised Vaxalon did not jump on this!!!

Good luck!

Bill
