Flind?

Simm

First Post
Just a thought I had. Given that most humanoid monsters in MM1 will probably have several entrys stated out (minion, melee combatant, ranged combatant, etc.) will the flind make an appearence. Although it is technically a subspecies of gnoll, being slightly shorter and stockier IIRC, the only thing that really differentiated them has their flindbar and its accosiated weapon style.

So how likely will do you think it be that flind makes it into the first MM?

I'd like to see them, but I love using gnolls a lot. I would say that they should probably just be a gnoll creature entry, and not their own.

When 3E came out, someone said that a great advantage of 3E was that there was no need for flinds; flinds could just be represented as a tougher gnoll warrior or fighter.

I loved this.

Then there were flinds in 3E.

Hopefully flinds will not appear in this edition, or they will appear only as a title for gnoll leaders.

I think there could still be a place for the flind in 4e if designers create some sort of racial ability to differentiate them from their gnoll cousins, in addition to their distinctive weaponry.

But then what would WotC put in all their Monster Manuals? ;)
More creatures to change :)

You want a hobgoblin swordmaster? Take one of the melee- hobgoblins presented, add some follow up attacks and ripostes. Change fluff.

Why waste so many pages? Just take a human, add somme follow up attacks and ripostes and describe him as hobgoblin. They players will never know anyway.
