That kind of point spread, and you still kept the level limits?? Wow, a purist!

As a DM, the first time one of my players found a pair of boots of speed, he took off at full blast. When he hit a T intersection, I made him roll a d20 and he had to roll under his dex. He failed. He embedded himself, cartoon style in mid-stride, in the wall and was stuck there until he was pulled out---by a bunch of ogres, but not before a rust monster came by and rusted his +5 plate mail. The rest of the party arrived two rounds after the ogres and bailed him out.

Related to this, I recently found the first two dungeons I ever drew up, complete with the key. Hilarious!

Stargazer. OD&D Cleric. I was 9. He was one of those guys on which you got "lucky" stat rolls as well. He had any magic item I could find, especially a mace that could basically knock down a friggin' house. Ahh, Hal, this thread kicks serious behind.
 

Kanar, an Elf.. Ranger? Or fighter.

This was my first 'official' character in 1e, and he and his cohort in destruction named 'Sir Vauntes' (a paladin) wreaked some rather insane havoc on everything in sight. Somehow the pair ended up at some unholy level, nearing triple digits, and their last battle was slapping a large red dragon around and making it cry.

The second was a nameless monk, quite literally, who kept meeting magical giants. He'd leap at them, punch them in the snoot, and get an even more powerful attack granted to him as the giants pleaded to be spared. He ended up doing a d100 with each fist before he disappeared into history.
 

2nd ed, I was 11, his name was Urath. He was a 12th level Mul Gladiator made useing Darksun Rules who happened to step into an interplanar gate and appeared in Krynn. I belive he had a natural STR of 21, 150+ HP, a couple of different specializations and a very bad attitude.

He killed a Somaliac Knight who was supposed to advance the plot with a large rock about 5 minutes after arriveing and stole his sword and armour and proceeded to wrack havoc around the countryside stealing every bit of metal he could get his hands on.
 

My first character ever...his name now lost to the ravages of time, was a 1st ed monk. We were rolling 3d6 in order, so tough stat gen.

I didn't roll anything under a 15, had a 16 to go with it, everything else was 17 or 18...totally blew the probability curves to kingdom come.

Everyone was pressuring me to be an Elven Fighter/Mu...but I insisted on playing a monk...which left them to all groan about wasted stats.

I then rolled for psionics...and let's put it this way, I had more psionic power than Asmodeus with most of the broken abilities (cell adjustment and energy control among them).

So I faithfully play my monk all the way to 8th level...but after several game sessions of having enough xp I just cannot find the guy to defeat to kick me up to 9th level. The GM was rolling this as a random chance of locating him and the previously hot dice were no longer my friend.

So I shock everyone by saying I'm going to dual class wizard. They groan again about how useless I will be for a long time. But levelling up to 9th level wizard went smoothly. And Monk, combined with Wizard, combined with Psionics...was just completely disgusting.

I eventually retired the character as a mutual agreement with the GM, I'd played long enough by then to know how completely I had broken the game system within it's own rules.

1st edition, right after the Fiend Folio (1e!) came out I made a fighter/mage Drow Elf named Finolfinn Darkleaf. He had a real generous point spread, with no ability except charisma under 14. The DM let me start him at level 10/10 (in 1e level 10 was a BIG deal!) and the power escalation only went up from there when I was allowed to keep all my innate drow abilities and reached a peak level of 14/18. Add to this a moderate psionic ability and the sword of Kas, ugh.

Second time playing the game. Me 1st lvl Fighter. Other player 12th level fighter. Location: Keep on the Borderlands. First encounter: Lich sitting in a tree. Yes, I said Lich. I ran, fighter killed Lich. Me, suddenly 12th level with 1,000,000 gold. Monte Hall would be proud. :) This was also back when we thought the hp's in the table were progressive ie 3rd level fighter had 1d10+2d10+3d10 = 6d10 hp's
Btw this was over 20 years ago.

I started playing in 2nd edition. CN point-based tiefling (from a dragon mag - comparable to the 3e half-fiend, without level limits or ECL). Speciality priest of Mask, multiclassed with thief. 7th level in both classes. Had a natural 19 Dex, before magic items, and the DM allowed us to split-stat up to 24 or 25. No thieving skill below 100% (and the only one that was that low was Climb Walls - I had a ring of Spider Climb). Had all of the thieving skills in Skills and Powers. Pick Pocket, Hide in Shadows, the Traps skills, all well over 150% once you added in magic items.

She insuated herself into the party, assisted them in scouting out the army they were fighting, found out about an attack on the party's Keep, walked in 2 hours before the army reached it and cleaned out the treasury before going back to her home plane.

Great game. :)
 

First game, 3.0.. a good number of us were newbies and we got it in our heads that we were able to use the character generator to roll as many times as we wanted for stats.

...

70 rolls later i was sitting on a satisfactory 65 point buy halfling thief with, of all things, 14 STR, 20 DEX, 14 CON, 14 INT, 12 WIS, and 18 CHA. (roughly there abouts.

Now we play 25 pt standard array. ^_^ I like it more.

Ooh, you have me on level, but that's about it! :D

Pharonn Steel, half-elf cleric/fighter/magic-user, level around 47th in each class. Psionic, of course. And he wielded Cleaver, forged by... ummm... some trog smith from the old Giants in the Earth column in Dragon, waaay back in the day (somewhere around issue 70).

Cleaver was a +27 longsword, fully vorpal, that worked when thrown (and returned); could cut any incoming attack (magic missiles, lightning bolt, dragon breath, arrows, a spelljammer ramming attack) in two and therefore avoid negative effects.

He went around enslaving gods and hopping multiverses to get more.

Eventually, his descendant- Pharonn Steel XXXXVII- got used as a MAJOR badass villain in my campaign, since outshone only by Tharizdun himself- not even by Felenga.
