For some reason I have a crazed desire to take another stab at 3e

qft. take smaller bites, mang.

rtttee is just ...wrong. but i still believe t1-4 is wrong too.

in the campaign, do you play continual or do you do cut scenes? what i mean is do you account for every day of the adventurers lives?

if you do cut scene then it makes it easier to do one-shot adventures strung together.

Oy, Vey! Return to the Temple, PLUS splat books, PLUS high level? It's no wonder you burned out. :D

Regarding True20: Wasn't it you I remembered checking into True20 a while back? (Might have been Akrasia I'm mixing you up with.)

All I can say past that is Good Luck and Godspeed, and let us know if we can help bounce any ideas around. If you do it, just be honest with them, and tell 'em you wanna give it a try again, and for them to go easy on you. :D Smaller modules, such as those in Dungeon Magazine, would REALLY work well for testing the waters and keeping you from being too immersed in one theme for too long (a real danger with megamodules).

I must have given the impression that minis were a problem. They aren't, I have a ton I've painted and a big plastic box of the WOTC type. So minis and that stuff we use for all our fantasy gaming. I just get annoyed that I end up buying them all. But that has stopped.

I personally have a solid grasp of d20 and using full core rules would be the setup, and I don't have issues with that, other than the high level issues with the game dragging which is why I quit before. But we were adding in outside stuff and using the splats and stuff which I'm gonna try not to do by not buying the Complete series.

I'm already putting together a basic rules document from the SRD that I will print and put on the table.

Some of the players are wargamers and they like a lot of rules, some aren't but can grap the, one doesn't seem to try but is fun to game with.

Try Red Hand of Doom, it's great. -Anyone care to agree?

I've been through this cycle myself. Try 3.0. Declare it too complicated. Try HackMaster, WFRP1, BESM, Basic D&D. Nothing seems right. Try 3.5. Declare it too complicated. Try D6 Fantasy, HARP, WFRP2, BFRPG, D&Z. Nothing seems right. Back to 3.5, but anxious for 4th. I need therapy. :\

That might be the case. Are you planning to steer clear of mega-dungeons, then?

Cheers!

No more megadungeons, at least not ones with timers that require non-stop hitting it. I would put say RA or something like that in there, but they can leave if they want. With Return it was a must get through or the world will end! type situation. I dislked that so much I began to hate Monte Cook. :(

I would run WHFRP 2e but my players like the D&D style game.

I haven't checked out True20.

The rest are good ideas. Use smaller modules so the pace and themes can be changed quickly.

I tend to like cut scenes.

Good call, I can see where that would be an issue. I haven't enforced this aspect. We are playing at our own pace.
