For those about to Rok(ugan)...

Some of those itty bitty cheap adventures had oriental themes and got good reviews.

Wish I could remember specifics.

L5R often had some nice adventures. Some conversion would be involved, but they would still be useful for showing you how the plot and motivations should work out.

There was one really nasty dungeon based one that was particularly deadly since honorable characters couldn't dungeon too well. I understood that one of the ways it was supposed to work out, was that as honorable characters kept dying off the party could get more vengeful and less honorable and their patrons would start contributing less orthodox agents and tactics. Was actually pretty cool.

There are still quite a bit of old L5R modules and books out there, and they can be quite useful. My FLGS has almost the whole 2ed L5R discounted and still unpurchased. The City of Lies boxed set is very good, from what I can gather.(Our Dm uses it , so Ive sworn not to look at it. I have heard from other sources that it is quite good...

When read this I was sooo jealous. None of my 3 FLGS ever has a discount box.

Lo & Behold I was in Legends ( FLGS in Vallco Mall Cupertino, CA run by a great staff ) not only had some clearance boxes, but has a lot of L5R stuff in there too for - 50% off!

I picked up

L1 - City of Lies Boxed Set
L2 - Night of a Thousand Screams module

B1 - Code of the Bushido
B2 - Legacy of the Forge

M1 - Midnight's Blood

All for about $35!

So far I have only started reading City of Lies, but I think using these ( or a least raiding them for Rokugan Plot ideas )
in 3E should not take too much work at all.

Thanks again people. My faith in Rokugan, and my ability to ( eventually) run a campaign here is restored.

Yeah, L5R here has strong following that still hopes the rpg will be as hot as it used to be, so the product are not discounted at my FLGS, though if I get serious about an OA campaign, I need to look for a discount bin somewhere.

Good luck on your campaign, BFG. I've played L5R with the original system, and enjoyed myself. Character types ranged from Scorpion Shugenja to Otomo Courtier to Mantis Samurai. Lots of fun.

I do see what you mean about good reading versus playability. It's a problem I have with various Storyteller games like Wraith and Mage. Excellent settings, but how do you pull a big plot out of it all?

My suggestion for an original L5R book to grab is Winter Court (the first one. There was a second Court book, but I haven't read it so can't really recommend). Of course, I'm all into the intrigue of the setting, so I am a bit more biased towards Cranes and courtiers.
