For those of you familiar with 'Masters of Arms': where to start?

I'm trying to use the combo system provided in this book to create a gun-fu, bayoneted rifle style prc. Thing is, besides close combat shooting w/o AoO's, I'm drawing a blank.

Can anyone suggest some two through 5 beat combos that sound worthwhile?

The most immediate thing I can recommend is looking at the existing ranged classes (bow and crossbow) and making the appropriate stylistic adjustments.

Frex, Aiming should be good for most weapons, and area fire and covering fire would be good for burst fire weapons. Multi-targeting would be good for a pistol class if you want to do maneuvers like Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis) in the 5th Element. One Shot, One kill would be a good maneuver for a sniper-like style.

You also ought to include some kind of 'stab and shoot' option, whereby if you stab someone with the bayonet on your first attack, and then pull the trigger, you do extra damage or don't have to roll to hit or something.

I've not looked at Masters of Arms for quite a while, but something like that seems to be very bayonet-fu is.

I recommend that you also have a look at the Spear feats, since the rifle + bayonet is essentially an improvised shortspear.

Thanks both for your responses. :)

IK has a feat that uses the stab-and-shoot maneuver. I'll look to see how they handle it.

Any ideas for outstanding maneuvers? I can think of some base military maneuvers from bootcamp, but does anyone have an idea for a fantasy/fantastic battles? The Bow Master has Thug Dropping. Other weapons have the 'Three Fold Strike', 'Paralysing Srike', and 'Why You Shouldn't Swallow People Using a Rod of Lordly Might' strike. What could we give this to really make it stand out?
