I've seen this around it's actually not a good idea. You're wasting the bandwidth of site owners (many of which will just ban excessive multple connects) and that costs money.
If you have broadband you shouldn't tell a noticeable difference.

Ditto that. The patch makes multiple connections to the website to download files from the page in parallel. It's not effective if you have a slow connection and somewhat wasteful if you have a fast one. You'd be better off finding a optimized version of firefox that just runs faster overall - like the ones here: http://www.moox.ws/tech/mozilla/
