Glad you liked it! :)

If you (or any one else) can spare the time to review it, it'd be cool. :)

And I'd like to say to RangerWickett, Caern, Jakal and JL Jones that I'm really proud of you guys! If this one works out well, then the doors will be open for professional publiscations by all sorts of people from these boards. I think it's great that we, as a community, can come up with stuff to match the big professional publishers. Shame we can't aford to print the things - but one day, who knows? :)

Vrylakos, I'm glad to hear from you. :) Assuming Russ included the rtf file along with the pdf, you should have a full copy of the Open Gaming Content. I know that you had some of my old rules on your site a year ago or so, but now that most of the crunchy bits are OGC, you're welcome to put some of them up.

But, honestly, I would prefer if you didn't post the whole rtf file online. Jake, the man who did the layout, put a lot of work into making the pdf, and we mostly just want people to use the rtf file for things like DM notes or when they write their own gaming products. But whatever, I'm just giddy that the book's on sale. What I'm most eager to hear, though, is where we could've done better, because if all goes well, we're going to be making a lot more products, and I hope they just keep getting better.

Micro-critique

Overall a very good effort, and I especially like how you have spent some time focussing on mood and feel.

However, a few comments on the layout:

You need columns. It really helps the readability, IMO. (Especially if you print it out... I can sort of see the point if you are a screen-reader, but we are pretty rare it seems.)

Your sample setting... you list the background of each race within the setting, and then you list the effects of wild spellcraft. As a result, you have to flip back and forth when reading it. I think you would have been far better off integrating the material, i.e., list each race once, with a description section and a game effects section. That way, the ideas would flow more solidly, and you don't have to flip back and forth to try to get the jist of each race.

If I download this at work, will I still be able to download it onto my home computer, or is it one download per customer?
I want to print it out at work, but I don't have a way of transporting the file from my work computer to my home computer.

RPGNow only allow one download per customer. But if you like, email with the fourth whole sentence on page 16 (not counting headers) and I'll give you a URL where you can download it again once you get home.

You're right it is easer to read text in multiple columns when printed out, but it is also a lot harder to read on screen. Basically I had to go one way or the other and I thought that reading one column when printed out was better than trying read two columns on screen (with that horrible up and down scrolling it mandates).

Morrus, I don't think that's right since I just did exactly what Thamaturge was asking.

I downloaded it at home and then used the email messages to d/l it at work to print.

Oh - well I've learned somehting. Thanks! :)

Hey, no problem.

I do hope there is some sort of timeout or it limits the number of downloads like Wizards' ESD download utility.

In any event, I must say I'm becoming a huge fan of ESD distribution. $5-10 (Maidenheim rocked) and instant gratification.

What else could you ask for?
