For those who Like/Use LEGOs - What For?

I always liked using LEGO for D&D. I particularly like making character portraits with this:

Mini-Mizer

That is just to useful! My character sheets will need to be redesigned, again, with a spot for a portrait.

I like the randomizer... rainbow wizard hat and laser guns... and some nice clothing.

Thanks Sixchan!

Anyone really into the LEGO scene could do worse than visit LUGNET, probably the ultimate LEGO fansite on the web.

I once had my players create their characters by giving them several minifig parts to put together.

I've used Legos as gaming props for decades. They obviously are great for castles, but they also work very well for dungeon crawls, especially since you can easily represent different levels of height due to inclines and declines.

Of course, my best gaming example of Lego use would be during a Star Trek LARP that I helped run many moons ago. The playing characters were the casts of all four Trek series, and the game setting was DS9. Part of the game consisted of all of the Engineers getting together (Scotty, LaForge, Barclay, Torres, Rom and O'Brien) to solve an engineering problem that threatened the station. What we made them do was build a replica of DS9 out of Legos! Nothing like having to build a thing with curved pylons out of square blocks! They said it was insidious of us, but hey, they are the ones who wanted to play engineers.

Whoa... good stuff there!

You should write a story hour, story ours are GOOD THINGS :)

If you want to read some stories about lego battles, in Brikwars sites there are also battle reports, with pretty pics... ;)

Thankee...

Thanks, for the views, the replies and putting up with my bumps to keep it in the top three. :D

I would have replied more the last few days... new computers came though... my brain is fried. When both of them and the wireless network are smoothed out I shall post again!!!

Only I am planning on a gaming thread like 'What LEGO bricks do you use most', or, 'My LEGO fig can kick your LEGO figs posterior'. Is there one already though?

Different thread to keep this thread on new releases, sites and other such which one might find interesting.

I am not gone (sorry) just drooling (see above)!!!

Man, those things are cool. I loved Legos as a kid and I can't wait til my son is old enough for me to start buying them again. :)

Eh, why wait? I've got twin 2-year old boys now, and am purchasing the Bionicles "so they can play with them when they're old enough". My wife nods sagely, then buys "the twins" more Lego for Christmas, which I get to put together, show to them, and then ferret away in my "den" - only until "they're old enough", of course... like 32, with boys of their own.

Cheers, Al'Kelhar

Well, my 2-year old was introduced to Duplos at the doctor's office today and he seemed to enjoy them, so guess what Daddy's planning on buying for Christmas? :D This is, of course, in addition to the Hot Wheels stuff to go with his first Hot Wheels cars he just got for his birthday.

Lately, my parent's have been looking at me weird. They've been doing it ever since I called them up and told them I'd like a tub o' LEGO men for my birthday. I think they think an adult asking for LEGO is a strange thing... ;)
