Force Shield ring and bow?

I don't know - the intent seems to be for the shield to always be in place.

If so, that would simply mean that because the shield can be put up or down by mere thought, you can quickly put it up to block teh AoO or readied action and then put it down again instantly.

Fortunately, no one in our group has or wants one, so we don't need to figure this out!

I think there is a limit to how fast you can react to someone reaction. You can not fire the bow with the shield up. They AoO when you fire the bow. For a free 2 AC this isn't too much of a penalty. The ring isn't perfect after all.

If u wanted to use a shield why not get a shield and then have it Animated. In the DMG it says that the shield frees up both hands

Asking why I didn't get a magically animated sheild is like asking why didn't I stay at home instead of adventuring with the shield ring that I have and a bow, I don't have that particular shield.. I have that ring. I think I've gleaned my answer though. Thanks.
