Forced Unmount?

First Post
I was wondering... how to force someone our of his mount?

Some game sessions ago we had some bad guys escaping from us riding horses, so I ask:

- Forced movement would do the trick?
- Maybe Scattering Volley (Ranged Power from MP)?
- Shield Bash?
- Wizard abilities that slide?
- Force Weapon Daily Power? (It slides and restrains)

I hate when they run from us...and attack the horse is almost useless, considering we have usually 1 or 2 shots and the animal will not die (and thats evil with the poor animal).;)

It's covered on p. 46-47 of the DMG. In relevant part:

Forced Movement: If an attack that forces movement
targets you but not your mount, you can
choose for your mount to also be affected, so that
you and your mount continue to move together. If
you don’t want your mount to be affected, you can
be pushed off your mount if the forced movement
carries you out of the mount’s space.

Knocked Prone: An attack that knocks your mount
prone also forces you to dismount. You move into
a space of your choice adjacent to the now-prone
mount.
I f an attack knocks you prone, you immediately
attempt a saving throw to avoid being dismounted.
This saving throw works just like a normal saving
throw, except you make it as soon as you are
knocked prone, not at the end of your turn.
Lower than 10: Failure. You are dismounted and
fall prone in an open space of your choice adjacent
to the mount.
10 or higher: Success. You remain in the saddle
and are not knocked prone.

Mounting or dismounting is a standard action, so knocking them off (automatic if you knock the horse prone) is good stuff. Also, you and your mount share one set of actions even if you're separated. So it takes a move action to stand the mount up, plus a standard to mount it again. Pretty solid!

although strictly against in the rules, I would also allow a player to pull a grabbed rider from his mount using the 'move a grabbed target' rule. that's 2 standard actions though (one for the grab, one for the pulling).

If the mount is moving, then it is the mount that moves away from the grabbed rider rather than the PC pulling the rider from the mount.

If the mount isn't moving, then probably it should be two actions.
