Forest Gnome (Races of Faerun) Q

Hi all,

I am starting a new campaign in FR and am interested in playing a gnome. I see there's a new Forest Gnome race in Races of Faerun. Can anyone give me the lowdown before I rush out and buy this? I don't want to spent the $$ if it's going to be exactly the same as other gnomes.

Thanks,

Hi

Thanks for the pointers. I can't find them in FRCs though, it seems only Deep and Rock gnomes are listed there.

I hadn't lookd in the MM, though, and there they are. Thanks

They're also listed in your MM, DMG and the FRCS.

They aren't in the FRCS. Only the MM (and in an even less fleshed out way, the DMG).

"Historically", there was no forest gnomes in the Realms until the Complete Book of Gnomes & Halflings, so they are not that integral to the world. It was better to spare room to put more realms-ish races, like the grugach elves.

Hey, gnomes get the shaft. In the MM, svirfneblins have low-light vision (they have darkvision 120 in addition to other gnome traits). In the FRCS, they don't. And while elves have drows, dwarves have derros and duergars, and now even humans and halflings have their evil versions in the Book of Vile Darkness, WotC has still not published the spriggans (I know they are in the ToH).
