Forest Gnomes

Hi Folks,

I was just wondering if there are any sources converting the 2E version of the Forest Gnome into the 3E version. The monster manual indicates that they get the gnome abilities plus the following:

Pass Without Trace (as spell)
+1 to hit Kobolds; Goblinoids; Orc and Reptillion Humanoids
+4 to Hide (+8 in wooded area)

What sort of ECL modifier (if any) do you think this should add?

Thanks for the help I appreciate it!!

Tough one...

Maybe a +1 ECL adjustment? Maybe not? Pass Without Trace is good, of course, as is the Hide-bonus. That first +4 bonus, is that the standard size-modifier or a racial bonus (havn't got my books here...) ? If it's on top of the size bonus, it really starts to amount to something... In that case, I'd go for +1 level.

Of course, with forest gnomes being so shy and seclusive they aren't really that well suited as PCs, but that's another story...

Druids as favored class I bet. I think there's another take on them in the Dragon issue that featured Gnomes, probably the worst-selling issue of all-time. ;)

Re

We played them with no ECL. I played a Forest gnome wizard that was only 2 feet tall. He was a very entertaining and amusing character.

What about lawn gnomes?
+10 natural AC (made of concrete).
move 0 (made of concrete)
inanimate (made of concrete)
+4 charisma (sheer cutesiness)
