Forget the Music. Sound Effects for RPGs?

Google's your best friend for something like this; I do sound searches all the time. There are plenty of online sound libraries like the one Diamond Cross and Questing GM shared (great stuff, by the way), just waiting to be discovered... I had a blast finding and judging the correct "crowd of zombies" wav for my current game.

If you're going to use Google (or any search engine) to do a sound search, I've found it's best to target the less popular filetypes like aiff, wav, and ogg. Basically, ditch mp3 -- the other keywords are more common to effects.

Also: Windows volume mixer has a built-in pitch shifter, so it's easy to make almost anything sound monstrous or fey. (If you're running a Mac or Ubuntu or some elite equivalent, I'm sure you can just click randomly on the screen and it'll write your campaign for you. :-P )
