Forgotten Realms Campaign

Lord_Darkon:

There are a few good links in the Maps and Other Campaign Resources in my sig. (Follow the link, and go to the FR section in the first post.)

Virtual Fantasy is quite good for resources. Project Silverymoon has a great deal of information on the Silver Marches.

I think either Cormyr or the Silver Marches would be good choices. Cormyr is an established kingdom facing many problems while the Silver Marches is a loose confederation with great challenges and a potentially great future. Of course, you could have the players begin in one area and visit the other from time to time. (Perhaps their fame grows or one of them has some tie to the other region, such as a family member or a mentor.)

I am currently DMing 2 campaigns in the FR, one in Cormyr (Pre-Dragon, the PCs may very well stop that dragon in the future) and one in a heavily modified Unther/Mulhorand.

For Cormyr there are numerous sources, especially PDFs. I recommend Volo's Guide to Cormyr and the Cormyr sourcebook. I prefer Cormyr to the Silver Marches since, imho, it offers more opportunities. Dale Lands and Zenthil Keep to the North, The Sea of Fallen Stars with Pirates, mercantile Red Wizards, trading Turmish and the rotten Westgate to the South, rich Sembia with its competing merchant houses to the east, the western heartlands to the west, and Anauroch with Shade to the northwest, all relatively close, and all with an interest in Cormyr.
