Forgotten Realms French Region

I need to know what region or regions of the Forgotten Realms would be appropriate to have a character with a French name be from.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

There has always been an optional country right were Iriaebor is. I forget the name, but it was/is french gothic in flavor.

I was wrong Torm. It was Riatavin near the Shilmista forest and Snow Lake mountains, not Iriaebor. The country I was thinking of (like a few left off of the FRCS map) was Erlkazar. It was originally Scottish highlands in flavor, but that was before Tethyr was changed.

Erlkazar is just east of Tethyr and Amn. Amn being more like medieval Spain and Tethyr now more moorish Spain than Scottish. Erlkazar could be taken now as the Andorrans in the Pyrenees (southern france). Oddly, there really are very few French-like countries in most campaign settings.

That's rather logical. France and England are the standard medieval fantasy. Then, you have more typical/exotic places : barbarians in the north (scandinavia and vikings), merchant princes and states city (Italy), border/disputed area (Spain), oceanic backward setting (Scotland, Ireland). There is no such dfferences of flavor (except names) between England and France. Because England was just a french colony anyway.
