Forgotten Realms Player's Guide

Hi all. While checking out the ENWorld forum today, I've seen numerous mentions of an upcoming Forgotten Realms Player's Guide. Since I'm a fan of the FR setting and currently DMing a FR campaign, this interests me greatly. Is there anywhere I can go to find out more info about his product?

Thanks.

Hi there,

I don't think a lot more information beyond that has been released.

Apparently this will be the conversion for 3.0 to 3.5, so they are doing a Player's Guide rather than reprinting the whole FR book (which would cause a revolt complete with pitchforks and setting stuff on fire)

Hopefully this will contain some new info beyond the changes.

Sorry I can not be of more help.

"...more information on this product and other 3.5 updates for products will be available after the July release of D&D 3.5."

That's from gamingreport. Nothing else yet.

Will future copies of the FRCS book be updated? It would kind of suck to have to by the setting book, then a update book.

And it would suck if people had to buy new FRCS to use forthcoming regional books.

Another can't win situation for WotC.

As far as I know, there are no plans to update the FRCS for 3.5e, although it would definately make sense for them to do so in future printings.

Frankly, I probably wouldn't buy a 3.5e FRCS, since most of the book is information on locations, deities, and organizations that won't be affected in any way by the rule changes. The NPCs themselves probably won't be too difficult to convert to 3.5 either.

Most of the stuff in the FRCS is OK as it is, and clearly doesn't need to be updated for 3.5. Actually, I'd be glad to see a new version of the FRCS, but only because of the severe errors in the original print (check the errata to see what I mean).

All the updates will center around the crunchy bits (i.e. prestige classes, feats and spells, mostly), so I'm thinking they'll probably conjure up the crunchiest FR book every, giving a bit more spells, feats, PrCs (possibly, even fixing a couple of those given in Magic of Faerun and Silver Marches) and giving background information on the realms more suited for players than DMs. That way, players will buy it for the crunch (and useful data for FR campaigns), and DMs will buy it for the updates.

All of this, of course, is just conjectures based on my tush talking too much.
