Forgotten Realms questons about books and libraries

Hang on as I once again look for the entry ^_^

Alright, the primary defense seems to be its secrecy. The High librarians themselves are lead by Librarian Supreme Haliduth Orspriir, who's lived 600 years by Denier's grace leads over 60 librarians, so they have much knowledge to draw on. It doesn't say for certain, but I would assume there would be many diviners and priests of Denier among their ranks. Eight mist dragons of varying ages apparently lair nearby and are swarn to protect the library from attack. It also mentions that some of Denier's followers make pilgrimages to the library, but seldom make it past a small building to the south called the Reading Room, where books are brought to them via gate, so as to keep the Library's true location secret.

So, its hidden nature seems to be the Library's most effective defense, and the others seem to make sense, as it seems to be Deneir's greatest holy site.

Thanks! You are a very informed member of this community and I will remember your name :)

You have raid my other post. Is it possible that this character Merlin accidently ran here and acctually got hired as a worker there?

Thanks for the compliment. I'm happy to help.

I don't doubt at all that he could have stumbled in. Since it mentioned that there is at least one gate that leads to the Library, it wouldn't be at all unreasonable to say he could have stumbled into a forgotten one and ended up in the Library.

It says that many of the librarians are of the kindly old shuffling greybeard variety, so a gnome as an apprentice would seem to fit right in.
