Thank you. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what xechnao was talking about in that post. After reading the thread, it's not much better understanding that specific post, but at least now I get where the thoughts were coming from with relation to the overall thread topic.

Wow, thanks everyone for reminding me why I don't like PVP in MMORPGs. I've never considered PvE in EQ2, EQ1 or WoW to require twitch skills at all. But then again, I consider any battle which requires those sorts of reflexes not worth fighting. And kiting has always been considered "cheating" by me. If you can't beat it in a straight up fight, you shouldn't be fighting it. It just feels too much like taking advantage of the flaws of the game system.

Is standing behind a parapet or arrowslit considered kiting? How about raining thousands of arrows (or machine gun fire) down upon exposed infantry?

That's not cheating, it's Intelligence.

And if you've been given a slow or a snare, what are you supposed to do with it, if not prevent the enemy from reaching you?

Granted, despite what I said above, there are certain kiting strategies that are most definitely "cheating". For instance, trapping an enemy on a corner so they can't run at you. That seldom works in real life.

Until another thread popped up I never considered what type of game would most resemble 4E. After thinking about it though it would definitely have to be the turn based strategy RPGs. Such as the fire emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics type games.
