Found some books for 50% off, should I get them?

First Post
At the Friendly Local Used Book Store (FLUBS), I happened to find the following books for 50% off. Well, I know for sure that 2 of them are, the 3rd and 4th was more like 25%-40% off I think.

Anyways, the books I found were:

Fiend Folio
Monster Manual 3
Races of Stone
Complete Divine

The total would come out to around $50-75 bucks (Don't remember exactly)

Do you think I should go for it? Could I get roughly the same deal on the Internet?

Anyways, this might be a moot point since the books might be bought by the time I decide, hehe. :\

If you're in need of monster books, FF and MMIII aren't so bad, especially if you're getting them ½ priced. For the others, it really depends on hom much you like integrating new rules to your game...

Well, I think MM3 is a cool book, and I'd buy it for 50% off.

The rest... well, Complete Divine is okay, and might be worth it if you have a lot of religious hooha in your game.

Races of Stone I've never seen.

Fiend Folio... no way. I bought it when it came out, didn't use a damn thing from it. MM3 is, to my mind, SOOOOOO much better.

I guess I happen not to agree with Arcane Runes Press: I think FF is a pretty great book, actually (it's MMII that I really revile). I'd get both the monster books if I were you; I wasn't so fond of Races of Stone, and Complete Divine is probably not worth it if you didn't acquire it to date.

FF is my favorite out of the lot. Hell, it has the Ethergaunts, Varrangoins, Graft Flesh Rules, Flame Snakes, Sarkrith, and other neat stuff.

Races of Stone is a nice looking book... that is if you want societal info on Gnomes, Dwarves, and Goliaths and feats/PrC's aimed at them. I'm not so I didn't buy it.

Monster Manual III has some very nice stuff in there, but the CR's are wacky, there's some editing gaffes and a few of the monsters are just... dumb. Your opinions may vary though, take a look at it.

I wouldn't touch Complete Divine with a ten-foot pole.

Are the reasons you didn't purchase them at full price no longer applicable?

What would you do with the money if you didn't spend it on these books?

Will the books enhance the game or your gaming experience in, at least, a like proportion to how much you spend (or save you as much in proportional time as it took to earn as much money as you spend on them)?

Well, I didn't purchase them at full price because, well, they're full price. IMO, it's like asking why someone purchases something that is on sale or clearance. :)

Hmm, I guess spend it on food, pay bills, gas, etc. Sadly, I hardly make enough money nowadays to fund my gaming addiction, I mean, habit, hehe.

I got confused by the last part, but I believe these books will enhance my gaming experience, if not by directly incorporating their rules, at least by their ideas.

On a side note, being a game publisher, do you find the idea of buying used game books to be akin to "losing profits"? Hopefully, I don't sound arguementative, because I am generally curious. :)

I am asking because that is what I am interepreting from your line of questioning. If I am wrong or misunderstaning you, sorry in advance. ;)
