FR character needs a location

Clumsy Bob

First Post
Hi all,

I will be starting my first Forgotten Realms character in a short while and I am struggling for some info.
I dont have access to my settings book for a while and I wondered if you guys could help.
Firstly read the attached file, it details the background of an Aasimar paladin, and hopefully it makes a good read. Its a word .docso dont bother if you dont have it.
The info I need is the name of the year, 15 years ago from the current time line. ie year of the drow yet again ;)
Secondly the name of a medium sized town in the Western Heartlands.
Third a city containing a Torm temple near the Dalelands and similarly a Kelemvor temple.

Thanks in advance, also any feed back on my little story would also be appreciated.

Well, let's see... since the current year is 1372 (Year of Wild Magic,) fifteen years ago would be... 1357 (Year of the Prince.) In case you'd like a year on either side 1356 is the Year of the Worm and 1358 is the Year of Shadows, and the year of the Time of Troubles.

Now, considering that the Western Heartlands is bordered by the High Forest to the north, Amn to the south, and the Anauroch and Cormyr to the east - that's a pretty large area, and it includes the Sword Coast. Not knowing exactly where you'd like to be there - hmm...
Since you specified 'medium sized town,' I'm going to try to keep the list down to those with under 5,000 residents. (Note that this is just from the 3rd Ed CS; I'm sure there's quite a few more in 2nd Ed supplements, but...)
  • Asbravn - Small city near the Sunset Mountains, Asbravn is a farming community, defended by the volunteer militia.
  • Beregost - A decent-sized town, Beregost is located near the ruins of an old magery school and presided over by the local temple to Lathandar.
  • Daggerford - A small village, Daggerford is a walled settlement with more than a few shrines & full temples.
  • SecomberAnother small town, Secomber may very well be located in the North, rather than the Heartlands; however, while relatively peaceful, they are close enough to the High Forest to have their share of adventures.
I'm not sure how useful any of these'll be, but... :)

As for the Dalelands - I'd guess that, though it's not spelled out, your best bet's either Archendale or Battledale, with the largest cities being Archenbridge and Esembra, respectively. Hope this helps!
