FR / Harpers Help

Dave G

First Post
Anybody know if any of the FRCS or published fiction have talked about the process of being inducted into the Harpers? My PC is taking the Harper Scout Prestige Class next level, and my DM asked me to come up with something for an initiation or something, and write it up.

While I have no problem with this, I just wondered if there was anything already written, either as game material or fiction that I could use for inspiration/draw upon...

On another note, my sponsor is Lady Alustriel! w00t!

Thanks for any help. If you have ideas of your own, feel free to add!

i second Code of the Harpers, a good 2e sourcebook.

"Those who purposely seek membership in the Harpers are usually disappointed. The few who show promise are assigned a series of tasks to forward Harper policy and test their meddle." -Forgotten Realms Adventures

essentially, in a game, you have to let it be known that you want to join the organization, and then you're observed to find out your true intent (alignment, personality, and so on).

in the novels, harpers are usually observed first and then recruited. you have to complete a series of tasks (minor missions) and then you may gain membership. (the person who sponsors you is responsible for you, so there's a lot at stake.)

only then will you become a full-fledged member.

(note: only the Senior Harpers and High Heralds know who all of the Harpers are. everyone else is on a need-to-know basis only)

[edit-spelling, always spelling...]

Well, we're 5th level characters and our missions have come from the higher-ups in Silverymoon so I assume they've been watching me for some time.

Plus we keep using a clever blend of idiocy and wit to survive the unsurvivable situations we've encountered. :)

Thanks for any assistance. Knightcrawler - e-mail away! *bamf* ;)

Sent you a couple of things Billy. If you have Alustriel as your sponsor/whatever your proably going to have less problems.

There's also info on the Harpers in the FRCS. And another good 2e source for somethings is Cloak & Dagger.
