[FR] Magic of Faerun (or something else?) question re: special materials for equip.

Amrynn Moonshadow

THere's this really funky cool metal from evermeet. i think it is called 'everbright' or something else like that. again, i'm still in a 3rd world country, and far far away from my books, so ... tell me if this is right:

the metal itself costs as much as adding an additional +1 to the weapon. (i think)

it allows for a 1/day spell which requires a DC 14 or people are blinded for 1d4 rounds, or something like that.

it's the kind of metal any hoity-toity gold elf would want for their sword / spoon / dental filling . . .

am i wrong? am i right? what did i miss? (besides hardness and hit points, which i have no way of remembering)

As far as I can see it's an enchantment.

Everbright: This quality can only be applied to metal armor. The armor is bright and shiny as polished silver. It never tarnishes and is immune to rust and acid attacks. The wearer gains acid resistance 5.

More information on the everbright treatment is in Volo's Guide to All Things Magical (from which Magic of Faerûn took it while crassly omitting the lore):
This long, difficult, and exacting dwarven process is now known to smiths of other races, but it has thus far defied all efforts to duplicate its end results with a spell. At least three mages--Athlagh of the Many Locks (who resides in Firepost Towers in Ithmong), Halandrar Crowncloak of Ulkan, and Spelargh of Phelzol--and one archpriest, Beltorvan Duircragh, Bright Blade of Tempus in the Bloodbright Temple of Dolselar, have mounted long-running, continuing researches to this end with no success.
Metals treated with everbright gain an enduring bright shine (akin to chromium) and become immune to tarnishing and other discoloration, acidic corrosion, and rusting--even that caused by rust monster antennae. The passage of time does not affect the efficacy of everbright protection, but it can be broken if a protected protected item is shattered into more than three pieces or comes into contact with lava, dragon fire, spellfire, or the heat of a forge hotter than that used in the latter stages of the everbright application.

thanks guys . .

the name everbright seems to be a legit thing, but *not* what i was looking for . . . oh well . . . it's something else in that magic of faerun section . . maybe i'm mixing it up with the blades made in cormanthyr (bottom right corner, of first page about magic weapons, iirc)

You are thinking about Everbright the weapon enchantment (not the armor enchantment).

Everbright The sun elven smiths of Evermeet know the secret of forging everbright into blades. These weapons are as bright and shiny as polished silver. they never tarnish and are immune to corrosive attacks.
The weapon flashes with a brilliant light up to twice per day upon command of the weilder. All within 20ft except the wielder must make a reflex saving throw (DC 14) or be blinded for 1d4 rounds.
